I was introduced to Mother Daughter Book Reviews by a Jamberry temmate and I decided to give this whole review thing a whirl. Mother Dauther Book Reviews sent me a free PDF of the book, The Ifs by JD Pooker, which I then read, and reviewed on Amazon.com. Here is a slightly longer review:

The Ifs is an adventure story that would be great read for an upper elementary or middle schooler. PROS: I loved the author's attention to, not only the brothers own emotions, but their astute perception of the feelings and motivations of those around them. The plot really picks up in the 2nd half of the book and gets very exciting near the end. It is exciting, and there are parts where the characters are fearful, but the book is not overly frightening and there is minimal violence in the battle scenes.  CONS: There is a tad too much description in the beginning half of the story, to the point that it lags the plot a bit. This is mostly character development, which gets to be just too long, eventually. As others on Amazon reviews have mentioned they long descriptions could/should have been adapted into dialogue, to move the story along.
However, I really felt that overall it was a fun read with a nice ending! Check it out!
